I have always felt some antipathy towards marketing, but recently jumped in and started my own business on the net. My question is, does this compromise my spiritual integrity? Will my spiritual principles remain intact while I engage in marketing my website?
Probably my most important spiritual principle is "First do no harm.". Okay, that seems all right...no harm in showing people how to make money on the Net. In fact, this may actually be perceived as helping people. So I'm not violating that principle here, though there are still some reservations about whether this really counts as helping people. I'll have to wait and see if I actually am showing the way to a better life. The test case of course is myself - will this marketing venture improve my life?
The company I chose appealed to me because it offered ten daily affirmations, using the basic principles of positive thinking and changing limiting views. That's just fine with me spiritually, as it fits neatly with my beliefs about how the universe works. I am a bit uncomfortable with the affirmations of wealth, but I suspect that's because I have a deep-rooted belief that "Money is the root of all evil." or some such limiting belief. More work required here!
I think I will have to believe that I can still evolve spiritually while engaging in marketing my home business. Who knows? Perhaps being financially independent will free up more mind space for spiritual practices. It's sometimes hard to maintain the spirit connection while wondering where your next meal is coming from! At any rate, this blog is one of the first steps on my journey, and time will show how this affects my spirituality...stay tuned!
